Gippsland Orthopaedics is a specialist orthopaedic surgeon clinic. We provide advice on non-surgical and surgical treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, which can be treated at public or private hospitals in the Gippsland region. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality of patient care with proven technologies and high-performance prostheses.

DAVID OWEN

Orthopaedic Surgeon

David Owen is an Australian trained orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip, knee and shoulder surgery.

He went to school in Gippsland, studied Engineering and Science at The University of Melbourne and Medicine at Australian National University.

 

Following his orthopaedic surgical training, he completed fellowships in orthopaedic trauma and a PhD in orthopaedics on wrist surgery.

David is interested in giving his patients the best possible outcome. He performs anterior hip replacement and is trained in robotic surgery.  

David continues to be involved in research and has published extensively. He is involved in training orthopaedic surgeons and teaching junior doctors and medical students.

 

David lives with his wife and young children in Gippsland and is keenly interested in sport, particularly mountain biking and skiing, and nature and the environment.

GEORGE OWEN

Orthopaedic Surgeon

George Owen retired in 2021 after a long and distinguished career as an orthopaedic surgeon in Gippsland. George now assists David in private practice. 

George gradated from University of Melbourne Medical School and completed his internship at St Vincents Hospital in Melbourne. He then started his career in general practice in South Gippsland. 

George switched to surgical training following a period in general practice, undertaking the Australian orthopaedic surgical training program in Perth, Western Australia. He went on complete fellowships in hand surgery and joint replacement in United Kingdom. 

 

George and his family returned back to Gippsland where he has been located since.

BELINDA BULL

Practice Manager

Belinda was born and raised in Gippsland. She is efficient, organised and an excellent team player dedicated to the best care for our patients. She is an outstanding barista. 

 

Belinda lives in Traralgon with her husband and two boys and shares their love for sport.

SARAH CATFORD

Endocrinologist/Andrologist

Sarah is an endocrinologist who is available to optimise endocrine conditions such as diabetes and weight prior to joint replacement. 

Sarah is a general endocrinologist, who has sub-specialised in the treatment of male hormone problems and male fertility (andrology). She has public appointments at The Royal Women's Hospital, The Alfred and Monash Health. Sarah has a PhD and holds research positions at Monash University, the Hudson Institute of Medical Research and Murdoch Children's Research Institute.

Referrals relating to male fertility and hormones can be sent to Sarah via her website.
